Tahuna Torea

Yesterday the Panmure bridge senior student went to Tahuna Torea to explore. They had a lot of fun because they got to walk around and look at the birds, plants, trees, e.t.c. When they walked around they took a lot of photo's of plants, trees and birds. The reason why the Panmure bridge senior students went to Tahuna Torea was because for inquiry we had something to do with flight. The LS2 students were learning about Godwits. Godwits migrate in Alaska but they come back to Tahuna Torea. Tahuna Torea is a wetland they are mostly for birds. Dogs are not allowed to be at Tahuna Torea. The Panmure bridge senior students had so much fun.

Hockey

Today was our last hockey session. We were so lucky to have Kylie to come to PBS and teach us how to play a hockey game and teach us all the rules about hockey.
One of the most important rules I remembered was you weren't allowed to put the stick up in the air. We first warmed up with some warm up games then we played a game which, whoever had the same color sticks as you was in your team and if she said switch we would swoop the ball with someone else in your team I thought this was fun considering I am really bad at passing. Then we played another game that involved slide tackling but in Hockey. So you had to try and slide tackle a person and flick their ball out of the court the person with the last one standing wins. I really enjoyed our hockey lesson hopefully I get to learn more this term. Everyone had a wonder sessions with Kylie . Thank you Kylie of you for wasting your time coming to Panmure bridge school.

Blog commenting

Today I have been blog commenting on Javeylor's blog. In these comment it shows what I liked about it and on the top one I asked Javeylor a question. To get more than five blog post's each eek you can do blog commenting and then take a screenshot, after you take a screenshot then post it on your blog.

Hundertwasser's Art

This week we have been finding facts about Hundertwasser. To find out more information read my DLO. In this DLO it showed you who is Hundertwasser and what he does. The reason why we did art about Hundertwasser because his art/drawing looks interesting and pretty cool. I really like his drawing because I get inspired just like that. We all had fun.

Team spirit

Today we had athletics part 1 at Panmure Bridge School. Before we started any activities we were first put into year levels. The first activity that the year 7's went to was station 7 how many shoots can you get in 1 minute. Everyone was happy and having fun because we all worked together which was called team spirit. Panmure bridge students were using the school value.  I really had fun because I showed team spirit so as the other people.

Special or pest

For the past few weeks for reading we have been focusing on pigeons if they were special or pest. Victoria, Manu, Mishaan, Nesi, Tiare and I all worked collaboratively to get our reading follow up done and dusted. For this task we have been using this site named multimodel. Multimodel is a website which is same as google slides but it is much easier to use. Pigeons can be special but to other they are pest. To me pigeons are special because they saved a lot of men and pigeons sent messages from this side to the other side without getting shot or killed by.  On our google slides it tells you a lot about pigeons. At the end of the slide there is a film of us students saying our opinions.

Year 7 leadership building

The beginning of term 4 the year 7s have been learning to work together because next year a few of the year 7 students which are year 8 students will become a school leader.  This week for our leadership challenge we got given a task to do with cups and rubber bands. This task was about making a pyramid by working collaboratively with your group members. In my group was Mishaan, Jorja, Javeylor and me. We all worked together to get this task done. Round one, everyone rushed to get the pyramid done Suddenly My group won because we worked collaboratively. Round to Mishaan Tiare Jorja and Shannon won round 2. We all worked collaboratively to get it done and dusted. It was really fun because we all worked collaboratively.

Jean Batten and Manfred von Richthofen

Last week we have been finding information about Jean Batten and this week Calvin and I wanted to find information about Manfred von Richthofen. Calvin and I were working so hard to complete out work and post it on to our blog. To find out more information read out DLO about Manfred and Jean Batten. I have learnt heaps of things about Jean Batten and Manfred on Richthofen. Jean Batten is famous because she was the first person to ever travel around the world, Manfred von Richthofen is famous because he shot a lot of planes down. I really had fun working with Calvin and we both focused to get our work done and dusted.

Choir

On Tuesday night the choir students went to the Manukau Vodafone Center. The show started at 6.30. There were 24 school that were with us. It was really fun because we were up onstage singing but in the same time we felt nervous. I finally got to be on stage with other 24 schools.  Our theme was bright colors we all wore bright colors.

Hyperbole

For this week's writing we have been working on Hyperbole. Read my DLO to find out what Hyperbole means. Sheet one shows what is a hyperbole sentence. Hyperbole is highlighted in the color purple. Use hyperbole when writing a story because it can hook your readers into it.

Cyber smart site

Yesterday we have trialed out something new. When I first looked at this I thought to myself this is so boring but then I rolled the number 2, I clicked on the number to, it showed this task. I read what I had to do. My question was what would you do if you saw something on the webpage and you feel uncomfortable, what would you do? Read the DLO to find more information. Maybe you can try out the Cyber smart site. This is only boring if you do not understand what your doing. Make sure if you do not know what your doing go and ask someone.

Paper planes

This week and last for maths, LS2 students have been working collaboratively on a flight challenge. We had to read and follow the instruction really carefully that was showing on the T.V. Today we got into our groups and trialed each of our planes too see which plane can fly the furthest. In my group(Victoria,Mishaan,Manu,Nesi and I) we found out that Victoria's plane fly's the furthest. Then we all made a a plane that was going to look like what we wanted it to look like. Instead we looked in this book about planes and found one which was named the baby duck, it was really hard but we carried on but then we ran out of time and justed used Victoria's plane. It was time to do the challenge. Victoria had to challenge Zahn, Tai, Thomas, Shannon, Gozan and Aj. The challenge was done. Thomas came first, Tai came second and Zahn came third. This was a fun maths activity to be doing.

The shake out - Must watch

Congratulations to Jasmine, Sylis, Reon, Thomas and Latham for creating a wonderful video for the competition that they have entered. Watch to see more. This video is about the shake out at Panmure bridge school. I really like this video because it shows that we are learning about what to do during an earthquake. When there is an earthquake u must drop, cover, and hold. Remember to use these steps.

Paper planes project

Yesterday we have started something new. Mrs Anderson has created a maths challenge. We have been trialing and making planes. This challenge was very interesting and it was very fun because everyone participated and made a plane. This was a silent challenge because Mrs Anderson wasn't talking to us in that session. Instead of Mrs Anderson talking she showed us a google slide about what we are going to do. It was really fun.

Godwits

For the past few weeks we have been learning about Godwits. Watch this presentation to find more information. Lyndon, Jorja, Mishaan and I worked together to try and finish off our presentation about Godwits. Godwits are one of the most coolest birds ever. I couldn't believe that godwits can fly from New Zealand to Alaska in one flight. When we first started to learn about godwits I didn't really care about it because I thought that they were just birds that fly around New Zealand but when we found out more information about godwits it was very interesting because that is when I found out that godwits fly from New Zealand to Alaska. I really had fun looking for information about godwits because I didn't know what kind of bird was it. Godwits are very interesting they can be found at Tahuna Torea near Glen Dowie.

Volcanoes

For the past few weeks we have been generating questions about volcanoes. Tiare and I have been using the skills that Mrs Ogilvie taught us. In our slide show will have questions that Tiare and I have been thinking about. We have found some interesting facts that we didn't know, for example, lava moves very slow but it burns fences and most metal things. Tiare and I chose this subject because we wanted to know more facts about Volcanoes.

3D sketching

Today for tech the yr 7's were doing 3D sketching at Tamaki College with Miss Ferguson. The yr 7's have been drawing 3D boxes, circles and triangles. We have been drawing boxes because it was a lot easier. We have been focusing on our 1 point perspective-vanishing point. We have been using isometric lines and we have been coloring in our boxes in different kinds of shadings which is named 3 tones. I really had fun sketching 3D boxes. Thank you Miss Ferguson.

How do birds fly?

For the past few weeks I have been learning about the godwits for inquiry. This DLO shows how do birds fly, shows 3 important things before they fly off to Alaska. Godwits always stuff themselves before they fly to Africa, the only reason why they stuff themselves is because they burn half of their weight. It was interesting to find a lot of information about godwits. Mishaan and I tried our best to complete this DLO about how do birds fly.

Mrs Ogilvie comes to PBS

Today Mrs Ogilvie came to Panmure bridge school and talked to some of the students in LS2 about smart searching. My buddy Nazella was showing me what they were doing with Mrs Ogilvie. Nazella showed me a site named Britannica and Kids Infobitz. First Nazella showed me Britannica, once I went on the site I was thinking about what I want to look for. I searched up Tonga, it showed a short paragraph but it came with interesting facts about the capital of Tonga which is Nukualofa. After that we went on to Kids Infobitz, it is a little bit the same as Britannica. I was surprised of what I saw. I saw heaps of interesting facts. Thank you Mrs Ogilvie for coming to Panmure bridge school. We would love to have you back.

Rhythm Interactive

Today we had rhythm interactive with Johnny and Lucy. In the beginning when we started they did not introduce themselves because actions are more powerful than words. PBS really enjoyed rhythm interactive with Lucy and Johnny. I really enjoyed it because you can express your emotions. I learnt that everywhere around the drums is higher and lower. Thank you Lucy and Johnny for coming to PBS.

Role Models

Today the year 7's were learning about us being a leader next year. The yr 7's were explaining what we are going to do when we become a leader. I have learnt that you dont need to be perfect because nobody is perfect. Being a leader means helping others, being responsible. I enjoyed making this word cloud. It was very interesting to listen to other people explaining who they know as a good role model.

Henry Tuipe'a visit's PBS

Today was Duffy assembly, a special member from channel 3 and the Maori channel. Henry told us that he would always go shopping with his mum on Thursday's during his early life. When his mum and himself went shopping, once his mum saw one of her friends they would talk but they would talk from a distance, far away from each other instead of next to each other. Henry's mum would say "oh son just give me 2 minutes" 2 hours later she would still be talking to her friend. He said to himself " I don't want to wait here for 2 hours" so he saw a library he would pick a book out, check it, thinking it was a DVD and said "hey this is not a DVD" he went to the lady at the desk, and he asked " Miss!!" the lady said "SHH" so then he said "Miss" "why ain't the DVD in the package" she said" it's not a DVD" she said" then the children around him said " I knew it wasn't a DVD I told him Miss" then the boys walked off, afterwards Henry said to the lady " what is it miss" so the lady said "it's a book" so she read the book to him and that was the first book he read. Every Thursday when he and his Mum went shopping he would always go to the library to read some books. Once he chose a book there was someone talking loud, he was being disturbed by that person. He went down the back where the person that was being so loud tapped her on the shoulder. As she turned around, she had long black hair, big brown eyes, and juju lips. Then the girl goes "what do you want" then all Henry does is laugh, the next thing she does is say's it again, then Henry is still laughing, so she walks out of the library. About 3 years later Henry is 14 years old he is still going to the library. He chooses a book, and there is someone who is being loud. He walks down the back and he taps her shoulder and all of a sudden it is the same girl from the last time he saw her. She turns around and say's "hey". Henry still remember's her and he said to her "can I ask you a question" the girl says "yes" then a few seconds later he says to her "can I read that book after you have finished" she drops the book that she was reading and she stomps out of the library, he hasn't seen her ever since. The book that she dropped was a book from William Shakespeare, it was the book Romeo and Juliet. Henry said that was what made the journey of his life.

Fantastic Facts Challenge: Kenny Baker

Today I completed a reading Can do about the British actor: Kenny Baker. Kenny was a actor on some incredible movies. I chose Kenny Baker to be my topic because he just past away on august 13, 2016. I found out a lot of information about Kenny baker but I really wanted to know what age was he when he became an actress. It was very interesting reading information or facts about Kenny Baker.

Cross country run

Today in the afternoon our whole school went down to Dunkirk for our cross country run. We first started off with yr 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, 6's, 7 and 8. The juniors did a pretty good job, the juniors tried their best. Then it was the seniors, the seniors did pretty good and they also tried their best. Everyone who participated had done a very good job. Congratulations to everyone.

Decimals

Today for maths we were learning how to recognize decimals and how to order decimals. We were recognizing decimals by using fractions to help us. ( e.g : 0.8 would be 8/10 in a fraction ) We practiced ordering decimals on a online worksheet which we had to read the question and solve it out in our maths book. I was also learning the places for the decimals. I really like learning about decimals because it can help me with my fractions.

Sketch-note

Last week on Friday Mrs Anderson told us about sketch notes. Sketch notes is way better than listing things, its better than reading 3 pages of notes, it even helps you tell other's about your learning but in your own words. In sketch notes you add anything you want, you can add bullet points, pictures, symbols, numbers, and our own words. Did you know that other's don't need to understand only you need to understand. This sketch notes has made me stay focus. I enjoyed doing this because it is way better than note taking and this is fun.

Cross country practice

For the past 3 weeks we have been training for cross country and inter-school. From Monday to Wednesday we would get ready by doing stretches and jogging on the spot. Mr Ogovly has told us some useful tips, run in a good pace and at the end you have to sprint to the finish. We have been practicing and been gaining endurance. I have been enjoying running around the school. Thanks Mr Ogovly for training us.

Mele and I tried our best to finish this off and get it up on our blog's. past the last few weeks I have learnt that back in the days the athletes wore no clothes because it made them run faster, but now in our days athletes wear cloths and now women can watch their games . On the end slide it show's the similarities between ancient Olympics and modern Olympic.

Ancient Olympics and Modern Olympics

Today for inquiry Mele and I were working together to finish of comparing and contrast the ancient Olympic games and the modern Olympic games. Mele did the ancient Olympics side and I did the modern Olympics side as soon as we finished we both helped each other to finish of similarities and helped each other put the photo on. Today I learnt that back in the days all countries didn't compete and now in our days athletes from around the world has participated. Mele and I tried our hard to finish this of.

Warrior's visit PBS

Today Alice from the DTR company has brought Ryan Hoffman, John Palavi, Georgia from the warriors team. They came and played some games and activities with us, First we played team trivia I was in John Palavi's when Georgia asked us a question we had to say our chant, team John's chant was J.P and Ryan's team chant was Hoffy, while we were playing the students or kids that answered a question got spot prizes ( Warriors drink bottle, Warriors bag) but not everyone got it. They talked to us about their hydration, sleep, and their belongings. The warriors need to have water all the time like we have to, we also have to not be drinking fizzy because it doesn't keep us hydrated and healthy. Then they talked about belongings, we all belong to something, like me I belong to my family and you do to. After that we Sajiha and John thanked them for coming and thanked them for the lovely spot prizes. I would just like to say a huge big thank you to Alice for bringing in Ryan Hoffman, John Palavi, and Georgia. Thank you Warriors for the spot prizes.

Run, Jump, Throw

Today at run jump throw LS2 students including the year 7's were learning the positions of the starting a race. Just before we started we played a game named Octopus to warm us up. When we were ready to run Andy said on your mark as she Andy said on your mark we all had to stand near the line but if our feet's were touching the line that means it was a false start and you will be disqualified when Andy clapped her hand we had to run to the other side while we were running we had to use high knees, cheek to cheek, and run in a straight line. After we learnt how to start a race we got into pairs to play a quick game, quick game was when you have a partner in front of you and once you have found a partner we had to sit down to start the game. My partner was Jane (Jane's blog) but we weren't in the same group. I had so much fun doing run, jump, throw. I can't wait for our next lesson. Thank you Andy

Orienteering

Past the last 4 weeks year 4 to 8 have been orienteering. Orienteering was very fun. I was new to Orienteering but I got used to it. I really like orienteering even though I just started to join. I would like to say thank you to Leon, Irene and Elaina for coming to Panmure bridge school and teaching us how to orientate.

Leadership

Yesterday Lynne Le Gros came to Panmure bridge school. Lynne came from the spark company. Lynne came to talk about leadership week and why they celebrate leadership . Lynne told us that they also celebrated leadership day because of Peter Blake. Peter Black was famous sailor who always came 1st in his races because he always wore red socks which helped him come first. She gave us some piece of paper to write in what our role model are, and why, then she gave us another piece of paper to write in what we want to be when we grow up, and what we want NZ to be like. When we finished all that, she gave all of us some gifts, LS2 really appreciate the gifts you gave to us. I would love to say a big thank you to Lynne and the spark company for the gifts and thank Lynne for coming to Panmure bridge school.

Speech connection and Rubric

Hi my name is Fifita today I am going to be talking about bullying.    Have you ever been bullied during school, public places or even around your neighbours? Well if you have been bullied then it is time that you stand up for yourself and  tell them what bully actually means.

There are different kinds of bullying like physical bullying, social bullying, verbal bullying, and cyber bullying. I think that physical and social bullying is one of the worst because physical bullying can hurt you and social bullying can crush your feeling.

Are you a bully?
Well if you’re a bully you should stop and take pride of everyone for who they are. Don’t be a bully because when you're older you will regret it.

Are you a true friend?
If your friend is being bullied what should you do?  Most times people  just walk away but they still get bullied. To avoid the bullying you can just tell someone older.

Do you really know what bullying is? If you think you know, maybe you can tell someone who is a bully to stop and be grateful. If you’re friend is a bully don’t be the same as them.Bullying is bad, horrible, and disgraceful. Remember that bullying is bad. Never copy what your friends do. Remember to  just listen to yourself and make your own decisions

This is about my speech. Today I read my speech to Lyndon, Paige and Zahn. After I read my speech Lyndon, Paige and Zahn highlighted what I was good at. My group told me that I needed to work on my eye contacts and my expressions. I was pretty good on my knowledge of speech. Next time I need to try harder.

Greetings in Thailand

This is my inquiry task. In inquiry I had to do a DLO on how to say three simple words in Thai. I found out that it is more respectful if you do wai. I had fun doing this DLO

Vajiravudh

This is Vajiraduvh. Vajiraduvh was king Rama 6 of Thailand. He was from Bangkok. It was very interesting finding information about Vajiravudh.

Current events - Homeless people

Today for reading we did current events. The current events were about families who are supporting the homeless people. Before we started I watched a video and read a article. After I read the article I got started on the questions. Friday 17th of June 2016 families gathered together in suburban car park with their cars and mattresses.
