Similes

In writing I had to make a DLO based on Similes. A simile compares two things using the words 'like' or 'as'.  In my DLO you will see what a simile is and some other examples of a simile. For example she is as quiet as a mouse or that is good as gold, these are all examples of what a simile looks like. I have also added in images to give examples. 

Scary flying kiwi...

As I sprinted up and down the slippery, rocky hill my heart beat faster than a cheetah. Aaaah! It’s my turn. I ran to the instructor, put on my harness and tightened it up. I checked my harness if it was stable more than 100 times.
"Kiwi are you ready?"
"YES I AM!"
I shut my eyes and prayed, that’s how frightened I was!

I was dragged up into the air like a plane taking off. I screamed at the top of my lungs. WOW! I was flying just like a bird. I did some bird positions. As Ms Kirkpatrick and Mrs Anderson came, they asked me to sing Rattlin Bog while I was up in the air. I started singing. I had two goes because they said I didn’t look that happy the first time. But on my second go I became more happy.

At the end of the day I was exhausted. I really had fun with the flying kiwi. I wanted to go for a sleep but we needed to do more things. Camp was really enjoyable. I honestly want to go back.

Last week the year 7's and 8's went on camp to Kokako Lodge. This recount is about the flying kiwi. The flying kiwi was really scary that is why my title is the scary flying kiwi. I hope you enjoyed reading my recount. This was a 5 minute recount about my favourite thing that I did.

Hyperbole

 

For this week's writing we have been working on Hyperbole. Read my DLO to find out what Hyperbole means. Sheet one shows what is a hyperbole sentence. Hyperbole is highlighted in the color purple. Use hyperbole when writing a story because it can hook your readers into it. 

Sketch-note

Last week on Friday Mrs Anderson told us about sketch notes. Sketch notes is way better than listing things, its better than reading 3 pages of notes, it even helps you tell other's about your learning but in your own words. In sketch notes you add anything you want, you can add bullet points, pictures, symbols, numbers, and our own words. Did you know that other's don't need to understand only you need to understand. This sketch notes has made me stay focus. I enjoyed doing this because it is way better than note taking and this is fun.  

Speech connection and Rubric

Hi my name is Fifita today I am going to be talking about bullying.    Have you ever been bullied during school, public places or even around your neighbours? Well if you have been bullied then it is time that you stand up for yourself and  tell them what bully actually means.

There are different kinds of bullying like physical bullying, social bullying, verbal bullying, and cyber bullying. I think that physical and social bullying is one of the worst because physical bullying can hurt you and social bullying can crush your feeling.

Are you a bully?

Well if you’re a bully you should stop and take pride of everyone for who they are. Don’t be a bully because when you're older you will regret it.

Are you a true friend?

If your friend is being bullied what should you do?  Most times people  just walk away but they still get bullied. To avoid the bullying you can just tell someone older.

Do you really know what bullying is? If you think you know, maybe you can tell someone who is a bully to stop and be grateful. If you’re friend is a bully don’t be the same as them.Bullying is bad, horrible, and disgraceful. Remember that bullying is bad. Never copy what your friends do. Remember to  just listen to yourself and make your own decisions

This is about my speech. Today I read my speech to Lyndon, Paige and Zahn. After I read my speech Lyndon, Paige and Zahn highlighted what I was good at. My group told me that I needed to work on my eye contacts and my expressions. I was pretty good on my knowledge of speech. Next time I need to try harder.

Today Kyle Mewburn came to school and told us about being a writer. I found out that Kyle Mewburn wrote some books that are about his family. It was really great having Kyle Mewburn at school. Kyle Mewburn tought me a lot.

Dog Report

Dogs are one of my favorite animal. They can be your best friend. I think dogs are a lot of fun. There are different kinds of dogs but they all need food, special equipment and care.  

There are lots of different kinds of dogs. Dogs come in all sorts of different breeds, some dogs are mixed breeds. Some of the most well known breeds are: German Shepherd, Poodle, Spaniel, Labrador, and Boxer. Sometimes mixed breeds have some funny names. For example if you cross a labrador and a poodle you have a labradoodle.

There are lots of different dogs around the world.  All dogs need to eat and need to stay healthy. Dogs eat bones from their families but they have to eat dog food too. Dogs eat different kinds of dog food not all dogs eat the same food.

Dogs need special equipment and dogs need care by people that are responsible. Sometimes you can take your dog for a walk and take a tennis ball so that you can throw the ball and your dogs runs to get it and brings it back.

In conclusion, there are different kinds of dogs but they all need food, special equipment and care. There are different kinds of dogs but they all need food, special equipment and care. Dogs can be your best friend and that is why they are one of my favourite animals.

This is my dog report. In writing I had to type up a dog report. I found out different dog names and I found out what dogs can do when they are very active. I really enjoyed writing.

The subjects were on a submission to stop the submarine from hitting the big blue whale. The subjects were really hungry so they decided that they would go on a ride on the subway to go to ‘Mcdonalds’ and have a triple cheese burger. McDonald's was right next to a sub-fluvial .This mission was not very subnormal for anyone, when they had their Mcdonalds they submerged through the water from the toilet to finally find them standing in front of the submarine which was going to hit the whale at any second. The submarine driver was subordinated, the driver was fast asleep so the subjects had to think very fast and they had to move very fast.

This is my group word wall and my group paragraph that has words with sub. Today we worked really hard to publish this on our blogs. It was very interesting working with my group. It was great working with Mia, Lyndon, and Nazella.

ANZAC Letter

This is my letter if I was in war. Before we wrote the letter we watched some video's. When we were watching the video's we had to write notes and write short phrases in our own words and we had to put them in bullet points. After we watched the video's we looked at this diary from Captain Charlie May. Charlie May's diary was about what they did in war. While I was reading the diary I took notes then I wrote this letter as if I was at war. The notes that I wrote down I added some on to the letter. LS2 were looking at life in the trenches through the eyes of someone who was there. 

Building a deck

Building a Deck

It was a sunny afternoon when 2 construction workers were building a deck at this wonderful house. The men were cutting up the wood. One construction worker was was cutting up the wood and the other was holding the end bit so that it doesn't  flip up. They only had one more piece of wood left to cut up. Then the wood was done and dusted.

When the wood was finished being cut up the other construction workers were setting up the bottom part for the deck. When they were finished the two men  were placing the wood on top of the bottom part of the deck. While they were still placing it the other two men were cutting up some more wood because they didn't have enough.

The 3 workers were finally placing and gluing the nails onto  the woods, they were still placing  and gluing the nails onto the woods. All the workers were very pleased of what they had done and what they have achieved.  When they were done they had made it to the colour black. When the deck was dried it came out as  a very smooth deck. The deck was finally done and dusted. The workers were very happy and excited for the people that lived their to come and see the beautiful deck.

Pumpkin story

The pumpkin story

It was a day after school when James wanted to make pumpkin soup. James asked dad if they could make pumpkin soup and dad said yes. James was so excited to go and plant the pumpkin seed. Finally it came to the part  when James and dad went to go and long  time. James needed to wait for it to flower then he had to wait for it to grow into a pumpkin. Finally Dad plant the pumpkin seeds.  

Dad turned over the soil so that James can plant the seeds. The seeds were in. James couldn't wait so then he went back inside the house. It took for a long time to flower. James needed to wait for a told James that the James were having fun making the pumpkin soup.Finally the pumpkin soup was done and dusted.  Finally it was ready to be pulled out of the garden.

finally the pumpkin flowered and James was very happy and excited to make pumpkin soup. James got the pumpkin and took it inside to make  pumpkin soup. Dad and having the pumpkin soup at home. .

An embarrassing experience

An embarrassing experience

This morning my cousin and I went to the dairy. It was embarrassing because I was wearing my pyjamas and people were staring at me. I was so embarrassed that I went like that to the dairy, just because I was too lazy to get dressed. I really hated how people were staring at me. From what happened today I have learnt to never go in public wearing your pyjamas.

                         Today I enjoyed doing writing. This is probably the best writing I've ever done.

Kayak Trip-Writing-Fifita

Kayak Trip

As the kayak was arriving James and Jake were excited to see the kayak on top of the car.  They were ready to take the wonderful kayak off the top of the white car and go for a paddle. Jake and James took it down to the water Tina and Davinia were ready to go in the wonderful kayak too.       

Tina and Davinia were in and finally started kayaking. While they were kayaking James and Jake were putting the tent up. Finally the tent was up and done. The fire started and it was burning. Finally Tina and Davinia were kayaking back to shore. 

While they were kayaking back James was getting the marshmallow and the yummy biscuits. Finally Tina and Davinia were back. James and Jake were telling Tina and Davinia how long it took to put the tent up and how long it took to do the fire. Finally they had their marshmallow and biscuits. They were very happy even though Jake and James did not get to go kayaking. Tina and Davinia had so much fun even James and Jake enjoyed the trip.
